Messi doesn't joke - Herrara speaks on Mbappe overshadowing ex-Barca captain at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain star, Ander Herrera, has opened up on Lionel Messi's impact at the club, insisting that the former Barcelona captain doesn't joke in training.

Herrera also commented on Kylian Mbappe overshadowing Messi at PSG.

Messi, who joined PSG from Barcelona last summer, has scored just six goals and registered five assists in 16 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino's side so far this season.

But Herrera doesn't think Messi has struggled to adapt to life in France, adding that Mbappe must learn from the Argentine captain.

"Players of Messi's level shorten the acclimatization time," Herrera told Mundo Deportivo.

"He'll play the same way in France, in Spain, in Japan, or in Madagascar.

"He has won his seventh Ballon d'Or and trains and enjoys it as if he were only starting to play now. No training action is taken as a joke.

"We have to put ourselves at his service to get the best out of him.

"Now it's the other way around because we are talking about the best footballer in history."

Asked whether Messi is being overshadowed by Mbappe at PSG, Herrera replied: "Kylian will be the best player in the world for many years to come, but we all agree that Leo is number one.

"No doubt. Mbappe has an immense humility and desire to learn from Leo."
