The German described the young England forward as a 'very gifted' player, adding that he would 'love' to pick more often.

Greenwood started on the substitute bench when United defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday being Rangnick's first game in the Premier League.

The young attacker set-up Fred for the winner in the 1-0 victory.

"Mason [Greenwood] did so well at the start of the season," Rangnick told MUTV.

"I think he scored three or four goals in the first three games, he's a very gifted homegrown player and I would love to give him more game-time in the future.

"But, of course, he has to deserve his game-time in training and, therefore, it was good to have him on the bench and bring him on the pitch."

Manchester United face Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday and Greenwood could be given a chance to start.
