LaLiga: Zidane explains why he dropped Marcelo in Real Madrid's win over Granada

Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane, has explained why he dropped left-back, Marcelo, from his side's away squad that defeated Granada 4-1 in the LaLiga on Thursday.

Zidane said he didn't feature Marcelo against Granada because the Brazilian had an injury, adding that he didn't want to risk playing him.

Goals from Luka Modric, Rodrygo, Alvaro Odriozola and Karim Benzema gave Real Madrid all three points against Granada.

"He had a [injury] problem and we didn't want to risk him," Zidane said of Marcelo, after reports that the veteran defender had had an argument with the coach last Tuesday.

"It's nothing more than that," he said.

The result against Granada takes Real Madrid to within two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid in LaLiga table with two games to go.

"We are going to give everything until the final minute," Zidane added at his post-match press conference.
