EPL: Man Utd equal penalty record in 3-0 win over Aston Villa

Manchester United were awarded their 13th penalty of the season during a 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Thursday night.

It means that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have equalled the record for spot-kicks awarded in a single Premier League campaign.

Replays showed that that Bruno Fernandes made contact with Ezri Konsa just inside the area.

Fernandes tried to pull off a turn, but ended up colliding into Konsa and catching him on the ankle.

Referee Jon Moss awarded a penalty and was supported by a VAR review.

Fernandes stepped up to make it 1-0, before further goals from Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba.

United has now drawn level with the Crystal Palace team in 2004/2005 and Leicester City's title-winning side in 2015/2016, as the only teams to be awarded 13 penalties in one season.

It means with four matches remaining for United in the 2019/20 season, they are just one shy of breaking the record.
