Jose Mourinho reportedly lashes out at his Manchester United's greatest enemy

Jose Mourinho has lashed out at Manchester United legend Paul Scholes after suddenly resigning from his position as Oldham Athletic boss this month.

The former England midfielder spent just 31 days in charge of the lower league club - winning just one out of the seven games he played.

He suffered three defeats and the remaining three matches ended in draws before the 44-year-old called it quit with the Latics.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager however got his chance to hit back at the former Red Devils play maker after his short stint at football management.

Scholes was quoted saying after Mourinho was sacked back in December that: " I felt he (Mourinho) didn't want to be there. He engineered his move away perfectly in the end.

"His press conferences were embarrassing, so negative, it was obvious in the end the players didn't want to play for him.

"The right thing happened in the end," Scholes had said after the Portuguese's sacking from United

And now Mourinho has reportedly hit back at him, stating, " Paul Scholes criticised me when I was the manager at some of the biggest clubs in the world while he only lasted for 31 days at Oldham Athletic. Go back to the studio."

During his first season at Old Trafford, Mourinho won Europa League and EFL Cup titles for United but failed to build on the success in subsequent seasons.

He was eventually sacked by his employers in December 2018 after losing control over his dressing room.

As their position on the log continued to dwindle until the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who revived the team spirit among the players.
