Manchester United legend set to land 1st managerial job

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is close to landing first managerial job after being cleared by the English Football league board.

The 44-year-old is one of the owners of National League club Salford City along with five of his former Red Devils team-mates.

According to BBC, EFL laws frown at anyone with dual roles with two clubs at the same time without the prior consent of the board.

If this this pulls through, the former midfielder would be managing the club he supported

The publication reveals that Scholes had approached the club to succeed Frankie Bunn as manager, but the laws guiding the league made it complicating for the ex-United star.

With the issue now resolved, Scholes has now been cleared to take up the job at Boundary Park if it is offered.

The 44-year-old, who was critical of Jose Mourinho while at Old Trafford has expressed his desires to take up a full-time coaching or management role.

He was part of Ryan Giggs' backroom team after the sack of former boss in 2014 owing to poor results. He has most recently been working as a television pundit for BT Sport.

Oldham, 15th in League Two, play Crawley away on Saturday, followed by successive home fixtures against Yeovil (12 February), Crewe (16 February) and Morecambe (19 February).
