Real Madrid's stadium Santiago Bernabeu sets new record

The South American version of the Champions League - the Copa Libertadores second final has been scheduled to hold at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, December 9.

Two Argentine sides, Boca Juniors and River Plate made it through to the final and played a 2-2 draw in the first leg at Buenos Aires.

But River Plate have lost their home advantage of the Superclasico after their fans attack Boca Juniors team bus, leading to players suffering injuries from the broken glass and tear gas used by police to disperse the crowd.

And now, River Plate will be handed a whopping $400,000 fine by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) for crowd disturbances.

The match between the heavyweights have been suspended twice because of the violence and reports suggested that it will be scheduled to hold in Paraguay or in Doha.

But FIFA have intervened into the matter and the Spanish capital has been set to host the historic Superclasico.

The Santiago Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid, will be the first stadium to host the finals of football's major tournament including the World Cup, European Cup, Champions League and Copa Libertadores.

The winner between Boca Juniors and River Plate will play Al-Ain, Team Wellington or Esperance de Tunis and Real Madrid in the Club World Cup.
