Real Madrid star wanted by Manchester United makes urgent statement on his future at the Spanish club

Frenchman Raphael Varane has insisted that he is not interested in a move away from Spanish club Real Madrid after being linked with a January transfer to Manchester United.
Since winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France in Russia, Raphael Varane has emerged as a target for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho who wants him to bolster his squad next year.
Mourinho is known to be a keen admirer of the France international having lured Varane to Spain in 2011 whilst he was manager of Madrid.

But the 25-year-old defender has rejected the chance of moving to the Premier League claiming that he is happy at Real Madrid who are the current holders of the Champions League.

Speaking to Canal+, Varane said: "I am very happy at Real Madrid. I am focused 100 per cent on the present.
"Back in March we [Madrid] weren't guaranteed to enjoy a good season and now we are talking about me being in contention for the Ballon d'Or, so I'm happy. But we aren't the ones who decide.

Before adding: "There are people obsessed with it but it's a team sport. We showed that at Real last season, we were united and won the Champions League that way.
"It's hard for me to give you a favourite as most of those involved are my team-mates. At the World Cup, all of our players performed really well,''.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are currently occupying fourth position on the Spanish La Liga standings as they have lost three out of their last four games in all competitions.
